Buhari extols Sultan of Sokoto at 66

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Wednesday, joined the entire Muslim Ummah in celebrating with the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III, as he turns 66 on August 24, 2022.

The President’s message was contained in a statement signed late Wednesday by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.

The statement is titled ‘President Buhari celebrates Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar III at 66.’

Buhari described the monarch as a spiritual leader who continues to champion the cause of peace and unity in the country by regularly counselling institutions, professionals and public servants to abide by acceptable standards.

“President Buhari extols the Sultan for his patriotic role in always advocating for a better Nigeria by working with religious, traditional and political leaders to always guide followers on making right choices that safeguard and ensure a brighter future.

“As the revered leader of Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs turns 66, the President acknowledges the maturity and selflessness of Sultan of Sokoto since he ascended the throne in 2006,” the statement read.

Buhari, therefore, prayed for the well-being of the spiritual leader and his family.
